Universal Studios Singapore Photo Guide: Best Spots

Universal Studios Singapore is a full day of rides, shows and snacks, but it’s also one of the most fun places in Singapore for photos. Every zone is a film set: classic cars on Hollywood Boulevard, red brick in New York, a fairy-tale castle in Far Far Away. The trick is to make the photos part of the day, not a separate job.
This guide covers the best photo spots at Universal Studios Singapore, when to go for cleaner backgrounds, and what to wear.
Universal Studios Singapore photoshoot: quick guide
- Getting there: HarbourFront MRT → VivoCity → Sentosa Express to Resorts World station
- Best time: right after the park opens for emptier streets; late afternoon for softer light
- Cost: park admission ticket required (check the official website for prices and hours)
- Time needed: 1.5 to 2 hours of photos, spread through your visit
- Best for: couples, friends, families, birthdays and anyone who loves films
- What to wear: bright or retro outfits; simple colours without big logos
Why Universal Studios is great for photos
Most photo spots in Singapore are either nature or city. Universal Studios gives you something completely different: themed streets that look like movie sets. You can go from 1950s Hollywood to a New York street to a medieval castle in a few minutes, and each zone has its own colours and props. Photos here feel like a story of a fun day out rather than a posed portrait session.
Best photo spots at Universal Studios Singapore
1. Hollywood Boulevard
Right after the entrance, Hollywood Boulevard is a covered street with a glass canopy, art-deco shopfronts and, often, vintage American cars parked along the road. Lean on a classic car, add sunglasses, and you’ve got a retro road-trip photo.

2. New York
The New York zone has red-brick buildings, fire escapes, old shop signs and street lamps. Doorways and railings make great spots for relaxed, “hanging out” couple photos with a bit of attitude.

3. Far Far Away
The castle from the Shrek films, with towers and turrets and a giant beanstalk winding around the ride next to it. It’s bright, colourful and very recognisable, and great for playful photos.

4. Sci-Fi City and the other zones
Sci-Fi City has futuristic metal structures and the big Battlestar Galactica coasters overhead, which suit a sleek, modern look. Every zone has its own style, so pick the ones that match your outfit and the films you love.
5. The Universal globe (outside the gates)
The spinning Universal Studios globe outside the entrance is the classic “I was here” photo. It’s in the free area, but it’s also the busiest spot, so either go very early or accept a few people in the background.
Best time for a Universal Studios photoshoot
Right after opening. For the cleanest backgrounds, be at the gates when the park opens and shoot Hollywood Boulevard and New York first, before the crowds build up. Most people rush to the rides, so the streets are quieter for the first hour.
Late afternoon. The light gets softer and warmer, and the covered streets are pleasantly shaded. It’s a good time for relaxed candid photos between rides.
Evening. As it gets dark, the signs and street lamps light up and add colour, especially on cloudy days.
Opening hours change by date, so check the official Universal Studios Singapore website before you go.
What to wear
- Match the zone: retro and denim for Hollywood, streetwear for New York, bright colours for Far Far Away
- Coordinated outfits look great for couples and friends, like black and grey or matching sunglasses
- Avoid large logos that distract from the scenery
- Comfortable shoes: you’ll be walking all day
- Sunglasses and caps suit the theme park mood and help in the sun
Tips for better photos
- Make the photos part of the fun. Shoot between rides, while you walk, while you laugh. Don’t spend your day in queues for posed shots.
- Plan your priority zones so we don’t miss the ones you love.
- Interact with the set. Lean on the cars, sit on the steps, look at the signs. Avoid doing the same pose at every entrance.
- Photography isn’t allowed inside the rides and attractions. Follow the park’s rules; the streets have more than enough spots.
For photographers: a 24mm or 35mm for the themed streets, a 50mm or 85mm for couple portraits, and a zoom to catch candid moments. Keep your kit light; you’ll be on your feet all day.
