The Helix Bridge – A Must-Visit Photo Spot Near Marina Bay Sands
The area around Marina Bay Sands is one of the most beautiful places in Singapore — a true hotspot for both tourists and locals. With stunning lighting, modern architecture, and a completely free entrance, it’s an ideal location for photography, especially at night. Many of my recent clients have chosen to shoot here for night portraits.
In this article, I’ll focus on just one specific highlight: The Helix Bridge, located to the east of Marina Bay Sands. Don’t underestimate this bridge — it’s absolutely unmissable.
The Best Photo Spots on The Helix Bridge
There are four observation decks along the bridge. Based on perspective and background composition, I recommend using the two middle platforms for the best results. These spots offer fantastic views with Marina Bay Sands in the background — perfect for half-body or full-body portraits. You can also choose to face the ArtScience Museum and Marina Bay for a different vibe.

There’s also a hidden gem here: a pedestrian walkway directly opposite one of the main viewing decks. Strangely, it’s often empty — I rarely see people shooting there. I highly suggest using it for full-body shots with Marina Bay Sands as the backdrop.

Don’t Miss This Spot at the Eastern End
At the far eastern end of the bridge, there’s a subtle curve that offers a surprisingly good angle. Many people walk right past it, but it’s one of my favorite places to shoot. It’s easy to pose here — simply have the subject lean casually against the railing and you're good to go.

At night, the lights on The Helix Bridge create a truly magical atmosphere. However, photographing here after dark can be tricky: the bridge gets crowded, and the long exposure times needed for night shots make it hard to get sharp photos due to slight vibrations.
Pro tip: Use a fill light, shoot multiple frames, and choose the sharpest one later. Also, try to position the subject along the side railings for better stability and composition.
